The best time for senior photos depends on the season, location, and timing. Here’s a quick guide to help you plan the perfect session:

Spring (April – June)

   Ideal for: Fresh blooms and vibrant green fields

   Best Timing: Early sunsets (around 7–8 PM). Spring skies often offer dramatic, soft light

   Challenges: Wind can be a factor, especially for hair or outfits

   Scheduling Tips:

   Late afternoon or early evening sessions are best for capturing the perfect light without staying too late.

   Take your spring photos during your Junior year to have them ready for announcements, yearbook submissions, and more—Senior year spring is packed with prom, events, and graduation!

Summer (July – August)

   Ideal for: Bright landscapes and water sessions 

   Best Timing: Early mornings to avoid heat and crowds

   Challenges: Hot temperatures and very busy outdoor locations. Late sunsets (around 9:30 PM) make evening shoots less ideal due to long daylight hours

   Scheduling Tip: Morning sessions offer cooler weather and softer light, and are much more comfortable than late evening shoots

Fall (September – October)

  Ideal for: Gorgeous fall colors and golden light

Best Timing: Late September for stunning mountain views. Mid to late October for peak fall colors in the Boise area

Challenges: Fall is the busiest season, so book early to secure a spot

Scheduling Tips:

 For mountain shoots, aim for mid to late September. For Boise-area fall colors, mid to late October is your best bet.

 Midweek sessions help avoid crowds and offer the best light and locations

Winter (November – March)

Ideal for: Snowy backdrops, cozy layers, and sessions featuring skiing, snowboarding, or other snow activities

Best Timing: Midday is best to take advantage of limited daylight and warmer temperature

Challenges: Cold weather and unpredictable conditions may require flexibility or rescheduling

Scheduling Tip: For the best snow, plan your session in McCall or higher elevations in February or March. 

Winter shoots are great to showcase snow sports or capturing a fun, wintry look—just be ready to work fast and bundle up!

The number of digital photos in your gallery will vary depending on the session, but you can expect a wide selection of images.

My camera shoots up to 6 images per second, allowing us to capture many moments throughout your session, providing you with plenty of options for printing, albums, or any other use you have in mind.

You can easily download and share your images directly from the online gallery. Feel free to share the gallery with family and friends for convenient viewing and product orders.

You will also receive exclusive rights to download and print all the images from your gallery, giving you the freedom to create and share as you wish.

Your location is the starting point for your photo session, whether it’s a park, a studio, downtown, or by the lake. We'll explore the area to capture a variety of backgrounds and looks.

If we need to drive to a different spot, that will count as a new location.

To make the most of each location, it’s helpful if you can easily change outfits or add layers. This allows us to create diverse looks without moving to a different area.

When booking your session, plan for about 30–45 minutes per outfit to allow time for walking, outfit changes, and setup.

If you’re planning for multiple locations, be sure to add time for driving and transitioning between spots. Keep this in mind when choosing your start time, especially if your session is scheduled near sunset.

As a photographer, I have a variety of beautiful parks in mind that we can discuss during our planning call before your session. It's important to understand that these locations, whether in the Treasure Valley or McCall areas, are all situated on public land. This means they come with their own set of rules, conditions, and sometimes crowds, as well as potential fees.

If you have a specific location in mind outside of the ones I suggest, there may be additional fees to accommodate for extra time and travel. Let's work together to find the perfect spot that fits your vision and captures beautiful memories.

It's important to know that every photo session is different and always changing. Whether it's from a website, Pinterest, or my own camera, I can't guarantee we'll replicate an image. Everyone is unique, so your photos should be too.

I believe in not copying other photographers' work. We can get inspiration from their ideas, especially for poses and lighting. But our main focus is on making the most of the location and setting during your shoot, so your photos truly reflect who you are.

I know life can be unpredictable. You can change your session date up to 72 hours before your session without any extra charge. If you reschedule with less notice, there may be a $50 fee. If you cancel entirely, you lose the full Session booking cost.

But if you can't make it and want someone else to enjoy the session, you can transfer the session to them for any package.

Gallery delivery times vary based on the time of year and the number of sessions ahead of yours. Fall is typically the busiest season, so please keep that in mind. Here’s an approximate timeline:

• Winter and Spring Sessions: 2-3 weeks

• Summer and Fall Sessions: 3-4 weeks

Please note, last-minute bookings will not receive expedited full galleries. However, you can still receive a few images within a week to meet yearbook or announcement deadlines.
